Housing Standards Officer

Woking Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to join our busy Housing Standards Team as a Housing Standards Officer on a full time, permanent basis.

To help us to deliver a high quality Housing Standards and licensing service, we are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic person with excellent communication and organisational skills who is adaptable, sympathetic and organised.

Reporting to the Housing Standards Team Leader, the Housing Standards Officer will work to improve housing standards for people living in private sector accommodation by giving advice, conducting detailed inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation, including the operation and enforcement of property licensing schemes. The ideal candidate will have experience of building inspections, dealing with legislation and enforcement procedures relating to housing conditions and experience of managing complex cases to successful conclusion.  

This is a varied role suited to someone with excellent customer service skills and knowledge and experience of tenancy relations. We are seeking an induvidual with a positive and confident outlook, who has experience of working with diverse client groups and can communicate accurately, clearly and effectively with a wide range of people. 

This role requires the post holder to hold a valid full drivers licence.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Council will offer assistance and further details will be in the job application pack.
