Are you passionate about making a difference to peoples’ lives?

Do you want to join a forward thinking and committed team, with an excellent track record in improving the quality and accessibility of private sector properties and supporting residents to have safe, decent, homes?

A borough with a university town makes us unique within Hertfordshire, influencing the scale of our privately rented sector.  We are seeking a talented and creative individual with substantial experience in private sector housing regulation and knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grants, to lead our Private Sector Housing Team.

Being able to see the big picture you will have a keen interest in developing partnerships to achieve better outcomes, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver the council’s vision to improve the quality of homes locally.

Educated to degree level in Environmental Health or with equivalent experience you will have a proven record of achieving positive outcomes in this sector, through collaboration, partnership working and formal action. You will have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to think creatively to find solutions to complex problems.

Our council is going through an exciting time of change. We have developed a new corporate business plan and a whole new approach to customer service where our priority is to put the customer first and offer a consistent ‘one team’ approach in everything we do.

We know that in order to provide the best for our residents, businesses and visitors, we need to do the same for our people. We have set out to make our workplaces vibrant and happy places to be, places where we feel safe, content and valued. From a generous annual leave entitlement, to flexible working and opportunities to buy and sell leave, our benefits package provides a great work life balance. Our offices are all COVID secure.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

Closing date for applications is 23rd May 2021.

Assessments will be held 1st June 2021

Interviews will be held on 4th June 2021.
