Our client, situated just North of London is looking to appoint a Public Health Programme Manager (Covid-19). You will programme manage a range of projects related to the public health management of COVID-19 from implementation through completion across the local area. You must ensure the high performance of projects by leading on all strands of delivery including local and national communications and stakeholder engagement with a variety of partners internal and external to the Councils.

Main Responsibilities:

1.You will be expected to work independently and is professionally accountable to the Chief Officer. Working with the Chief officer they will identify and lead a range of projects at all stages of its life with devolved responsibility for lead areas of work.

2.To develop and implement innovative activities, actions and solutions as necessary to manage risk, preventing or addressing problems and failings in the program, ensuring they do not damage the programme's chance of success.

3.Work with other programme managers to ensure projects and their activities are aligned across the wider programme to minimise wasted resource, taking advantage of opportunities for joined up working, resolving and where possible preventing conflicts of interest and misunderstandings between projects within the programme resulting from either; budget pressures, technical, or other issues.

4.To lead or direct the procurement of any necessary supplies and services for the Programme, working within published policies and practices and with the relevant business units as necessary, as needed to deliver the programme outcomes. This will include contract letting and negotiation with external suppliers as appropriate and necessary.

5.To provide Quality Assurance identify risks and proactively manage mitigation for all major project deliverables and to have personal accountability for ensuring they are fit for purpose.

For this assignment it is essential that you have excellent knowledge and experience of using project and programme management techniques and approaches to successfully manage a programme of work to successful conclusion. You must also have a proven ability to influence and coordinate other organisations and agencies to increase their engagement with health and wellbeing, ill-health prevention and health inequalities.

Although some remote work will be allowed, this assignment will require you to travel around the county so please bear your location in mind when applying for this position. This role is a 3-6 month initial contract and the rate is £350-£400/day.
