Our client in the South West of England is recruiting for a Principal Environmental Health Officer to lead and manage an Environmental Protection team on an interim basis.

 

You will be responsible for providing an effective and comprehensive, customer-focused service in accordance with legislation and agreed service standards acting as lead officer for Environmental Protection (environmental/animal activities permits, air quality, community protection, noise and other statutory nuisance, national assistance funerals, bathing water quality, contaminated land, pest control, found dogs, and planning/licensing consultations) matters.

 About you

You must possess an in-depth understanding of the effective application of related legislation and enforcement processes and be qualified, as a minimum, to the equivalent of Environmental Health Officer level – ideally, you will be a member of the CIEH.  In addition, you will hold an ILM level 5 or equivalent qualification in management or have equivalent experience.  Recent experience of delivering a similar service; managing and motivating a team; and reviewing, developing, implementing and monitoring environmental health policy and strategy are also essential.  You will also be adept at utilising technology for service delivery and able to make timely and confident decisions on complex matters as well as having excellent communication and influencing skills.
