The Environmental Health Service is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide planning consultation responses aimed at ensuring the effective control of noise, odour, dust and artificial light associated with new developments.

Your work will complement that of other specialist officers within Environmental Health who provide planning consultation responses in relation to contaminated land and air quality. You will be qualified to degree level, and ideally have a recognised qualification in noise. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the technical guidance and polices applicable to the control of noise. Experience of critically appraising noise reports and experience of working within the planning regime would be an advantage. Knowledge of the controls and guidance relevant to dust, odour and light would be desirable but training and support would be provided in the absence of any first-hand experience.

Based at Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2EB (next to Westgate Train Station) or working from home up to 5 days or less to suit your work-life balance,  with all equipment provided. Wherever you choose to work from you can rely on other colleagues to provide any noise monitoring data or site visit information if you are unable to undertake site visits.

For further information please contact Gerard McCormack on 07810152578.
