The Community Protection Service are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to undertake the team leader role within the Private Sector Housing and Public Health team.

The team deals with a range of housing related issues including the licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO’S), the enforcement of housing standards in the private rented sector and various public health related duties.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for leading and managing the team on a day to day basis as well as contributing to the development of strategies, policies and procedures ensuring that the Council’s aims and objectives are implemented.

You will work collaboratively across the Council and in partnership with a range of external stakeholders, in particular private landlords, contractors, and residents , to promote community and economic wellbeing and to protect and improve the health and quality of life of those who live, visit and work in County Durham.

You will have good problem-solving skills, good communication, an ability to work under pressure, and good technical and legal expertise on private sector housing issues.
You will be required to deputise for the Operational Manager as requested, on all matters associated with the Division in his/her absence.

Required Qualifications:
• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
• Registration with EHRB.
