Broxbourne is a very attractive, vibrant place to work with excellent connections to London and the rest of the country. Our busy Environmental Health team is committed to improving the quality of life of our residents. They are involved with all associated work with the current pandemic, including investigation of complaints, providing advice and contact tracing.

We wish to recruit an excellent communicator and problem solver who is keen to join a team at the forefront of the latest initiatives in the environmental field to take a lead role in improving the quality, safety, energy efficiency and management of private sector housing within the Borough.

Managing your own individual case load, you will have experience of the housing health and safety rating scheme and experience of dealing with houses in multiple occupation which have recently increased. You will handle all aspects of investigation work right through to legal proceedings e.g PACE interviews/Court attendance.

Applicants must have a relevant degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered. They must be able to demonstrate up-to-date and detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and other relevant legislation: specifically Acts relating to housing conditions and licensing of houses in multiple occupation. You must also be trained in HHSRS and have a good knowledge of house construction. You must have excellent customer care skills, and be willing to attend landlords’ forums during out of office hours. A full valid driving licence is essential.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
