Woking Borough Council’s Environmental Health Service is looking for a full time Environment Officer or Environmental Health Officer to work within our professional team.
The post-holder will help deliver a range of Environmental Health (EH) regulatory functions with a focus on environmental control, including air quality, planning application consultations, complex statutory nuisance investigation and enforcement.
The successful candidate will need to be motivated by achieving high quality customer-focused service delivery and positive public health outcomes. Excellent communication and IT skills are essential and you'll need to be a confident, organised, flexible and outward-looking team player, with a practical common sense approach to the job. Experience in enforcement work is preferred.
As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups, successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.
The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take 2 flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, payment of professional subscription, discounted health and leisure membership, competitive salary, pleasant open plan working environment at the Civic Offices and excellent career opportunities for committed individuals. Further benefits are detailed in the job pack.
For an informal discussion about the post please contact Emma Bourne (Environmental Health Manager) on 01483 743840.
