An exciting time to join Cotswold District Council!

These are two new roles to expand our current team.  We work with colleagues in our shared organisation to provide an excellent service delivering statutory functions across three councils. The council promotes flexible working including home working and has a range of benefits including a health scheme.

Cotswold District is a great place to live, work and visit, and we are rightly proud of our businesses, communities and residents. We are busy recreating a council that’s pro-active and responsive to the needs of our residents and businesses in a fast changing environment. That means we need to be ‘fleet of foot’ and look for innovative and creative ways to deliver against our Corporate Plan priorities.

About the role…

We have two great opportunities for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Health/Food Safety Officer and one for a Senior position, who will work within our shared service of Cotswold District Council, West Oxfordshire Council and Forest of Dean District Council.

The main duties cover food safety and hygiene, health and safety and public health.  You will be undertaking premises inspections, sampling, and the investigation of service requests, communicable diseases, food poisoning outbreaks and accidents.

For the Senior position you should have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role and be confident to lead on complex cases including court attendance.

Both roles will be based in our Cirencester office but you will also have the opportunity to support your colleagues by assisting with visits and investigations in West Oxfordshire/Forest of Dean.

You will need…

  • Degree/Masters/Diploma in Environmental Health or Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection
  • To be EHRB registered
  • A NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma an advantage
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role and be confident to lead on complex cases including court attendance for the Senior position.

Special Conditions…

  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
