Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth’s shared regulatory services partnership is a shining example of the power of creative collaboration.  Bringing together a range of environmental health, enforcement, technical and income generating activities, the partnership is trailblazing a new approach to regulatory services in the capital and shaping a city class commercial operation that provides outstanding results for businesses and communities.  As Private Sector Housing Manager you will provide leadership of team across a range of high profile themes and services that help keep Londoners safe in their homes and protect their quality of life.

About the role

Reporting to the Residential & Pollution Services Manager, you will lead a team of circa 14 officers providing services relating to private sector housing condition, empty properties, rogue landlords and high-rise building safety.

The team work chiefly within the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Richmond upon Thames; linking with key stakeholders both within these organisations and externally, including MHCLG and other key portfolio holders.

As a member of the partnership’s management team, with a focus on innovation and growth; you will lead on important IT, procedural and structural change programmes that focus on improving customer experience, driving efficiency and supporting our corporate objectives.

Each of our partner Councils is placing increasing importance on the areas of work covered by this post.  You will be joining at a critical time and will be responsible for overseeing key projects such as EWS survey & remediation (including ACM buildings), reviewing the manner in which tenants can be better supported and the continued drive to ensure standards in private sector housing are upheld.

About you

You will be a qualified regulatory services practitioner with experience in private sector housing. You will bring experience of working at a managerial level in local government with a track record of providing advice and support to leaders and senior decision makers.
