Senior Environmental Health Officer – Scale 11 (£33,782 to £37.890)

Permanent – Food Safety

We are seeking talented, dynamic and inspirational professionals who will play a key role in the delivery of better regulatory services for Durham County Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Food Safety and Wellbeing Team within the Community Protection Service of one of the largest unitary councils in the country and contribute to the transformation and improvement of local regulatory services. To succeed, you will need to understand the scale, and complexity of the organisation, and have the ability to meet the challenges ahead.

We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated Environmental Health practitioner to join our specialist team, who will share our commitment to the delivery of services that are of the highest quality, accord with the Council’s priorities and contribute to the development of a prosperous, safe and sustainable future for County Durham.

County Durham has approximately five thousand food businesses that cover the full breath of activities. It is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of specialist food retail and manufacturing businesses.

Successful candidates must have recent operational experience of working within Food Safety and possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to be able to undertake investigations, interventions, and enforcement in this field.

Required essential Qualifications: As a Senior EHO you will be appropriately qualified with a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and be registered with the Environmental Health Officer’s Registration Board or equivalent. You will have recent operational experience in Food Safety.

Interviews are expected to take place during week commencing Monday 29th March 2021, and will be conducted using MS Teams.

As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.
