Description

Maldon District Council is seeking to employ an experienced environmental health professional to complement our busy, multi-skilled environmental protection team.

The post holder will be expected to undertake the vast majority of work under their own initiative and provide technical advice and decision making in all aspects of the role, including taking formal action where applicable.

About this role

You will work as part of a small team of Environmental Health Specialists.  The scope of the environmental protection team is varied and wide-ranging.  Experience in the day to day workings of some of the following areas is desirable although knowledge of all of them is not essential.

  • Statutory Nuisances
  • Public Health Complaints (e.g. pests, drainage, waste)
  • Private Sector Housing (disrepair, HMOs & caravan site licensing)
  • Air Quality
  • Contaminated Land
  • Private Water Supplies
  • Scrap Metal Dealer Licensing
  • Planning and Licensing Consultation Responses

There will be the opportunity to work in other areas of Environmental Health, assisting from time to time on the Commercial team or supporting some of our key projects and process improvement reviews.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are proficient in the use of Microsoft applications
  • Have experience using local authority regulatory services software packages
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Environmental Health or are working towards this
  • Have experience working within Environmental Health
  • Are self-motivated and can work under pressure with minimal supervision
