Principal Environmental Health Officer
Starting salary circa. £44,500 per annum, plus essential user car allowance
Permanent, Full-time - 37 hours per week
Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn
We have a rare opportunity available in the Food Safety and Health and Safety team for you as a qualified and competent Environmental Health Officer (EHO). If you are already a Principal EHO looking for a new challenge or are a Senior EHO looking for the next step this could be the role you are looking for.
West Norfolk consists of urban, rural and coastal areas, and a variety of local industry including tourism, together with a thriving shellfish industry and busy river port. This means we can offer you such a wide variety to this job role.
You will lead and motivate the Food Safety and Health and Safety Team to ensure that the service meets all statutory and other obligation, as well as managing your own caseload including to carry out detailed investigation and audits of mainly ‘high risk’ food and health and safety businesses and fishing vessels as required. You will also act at the Lead Food Officer for the authority as well as monitor and validate exports of fishery products and shellfish including the verification of documents, identity, and physical checks.
You will hold a Chartered Membership of CIEH with EHRB registration, and have significant post qualification experience in food safety inspection and enforcement in the area of food / health and safety. You will be able to communicate effectively with the ability to effectively supervise and support a technical team as well as effectively manager you own workload to deadline. You must have a full driving licence to be able to travel around the Borough.
