Environmental Health Practitioner
(Temporary Maternity Leave Cover up to 03/04/2022)
£32,234 - £35,745 (Grade I)
An opportunity has arisen in our Environmental Protection Team to apply for the post of Environmental Health Practitioner to cover for a period of maternity leave. This will be for a fixed period of 12 months. The post will be primarily dealing with noise control. This is an area of work that can be as rewarding as it can be challenging. It is an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of those affected by noise and will seek to control noise pro-actively where possible.
We are looking for applicants who are highly self-motivated and who can make a difference. You must be enthusiastic, effective, a diligent self-starter and be passionate about the delivery of excellent public sector services. You will be required to have the necessary skills to deal with challenging situations, be able to offer practical advice, to carry out enforcement as required, be innovative in your approach to finding resolutions to cases and problem solve issues by working collaboratively with other officers/agencies.
The successful applicant will work in the Pollution & Wellbeing Team but will be expected to form and maintain excellent working relationships with those in other Teams, and external partners.
You will need to be fully aware of all legislation, guidance and good practice in this area of work, and will ensure that local and national policies and strategies are ingrained in all that we do.
This post will require you to have obtained an MSc, BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health, together with demonstrable experience of working within this field. A post-graduate qualification in a related area such as Acoustics and Noise Control would be desirable.
Conversational Welsh is required to accomplish this post. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
For an informal discussion please contact Alun Rees, Pollution and Wellbeing Lead on 07827 821912 / AJRees@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
