In this role you'll lead and ensure continual improvement of Wirral's Environmental Health Service.  As well as the statutory Food Safety, Health and Safety, Pollution Control, Animal Health and other District based services, this also includes Pest Control, Public Conveniences and the partnered Stray Dog Kennelling services. Other key elements include managing the service budgets to ensure that all activities are cost effective and financial targets are met, to bring in external funding and generate income with sound business cases and to ensure all statutory duties are fulfilled for the range of current and future Environmental Health Services.

You'll need to have a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent and have experience managing complex multidisciplinary teams delivering statutory functions.

You will need a track record of innovative delivery methods and strong leadership and experience of leading services during the Covid-19 crisis and the learning that has come from this.

Above all you will be looking to improve the way we engage with our employees, residents and customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.
