We are looking for experienced, forward thinking professional to join our Food and Safety team, working in an area which has a historic city, coastal town and rural area of outstanding beauty

You will undertake general duties across our Commercial team covering Food safety, Health & Safety, Infectious disease control, and to support businesses and the team as we transition to a regulatory regime outside of the EU. Each of our 3 SEHO has a specialist lead, so ideally you will have experience in Health & Safety regulation and investigations to provide this role within the team.

We can offer the right person a rare opportunity to support the development of a new regulatory framework as we rise to the challenge of establishing a new inspection and control regime at the Port of Heysham as well as continue our proactive approach to the current Covid19 pandemic.

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit and inspect properties in the district. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.

The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday with occasional early morning, evening, weekends or bank holidays especially as part of the Port Health function. This post is permanent.

The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.  This post will be based at Morecambe Town Hall although currently most staff are home based.

In addition to career-enhancing experience we can offer you an excellent quality of life in north Lancashire with easy access to recreational pursuits in areas including the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
