Technical Officer (Food) – Job share

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is a small Council with big values. We are committed to ensuring our services are delivered to the highest possible standard and we put the customer at the forefront of everything we do. By working for us you will become part of the team and will play your part in serving our community.

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Officer for 22.2 hours per week in our Food Safety Team.  This is an exciting opportunity where you will be involved in implementing and delivering a complex, reactive and planned workload in relation to food hygiene and food standards, including complaint investigations, food sampling and infectious disease investigations and taking appropriate enforcement action to drive up compliance levels within the Borough to help protect the public and legitimate businesses.

To be considered you must hold one of the baseline qualifications and have associated registration. The baseline qualifications are Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection, Higher Certificate in Food Control or certificate of registration or Diploma issued by the Environmental Health Registration Board. You will need to have an in-depth current knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, priorities, and strategies to secure compliance. Experience of working in a role involving the regulation of health and safety or licensing would be advantageous.

In addition to routine and reactive work, there will be many other food hygiene, standards and health and safety opportunities and experiences for you to take advantage of.

You must have a positive attitude and be keen to work in a busy team providing a customer focused, risk based and professional service. You will be highly motivated and be expected to deliver against a challenging work plan.

Further details for the posts are contained in the appropriate job description and person specification. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Rachel Fleeson on 024 7637 6402 (Senior EHO - Food and Safety).
