Environmental Health Officer

Grade 11, £34,788 - £38,813 + 10% Market Supplement

Temporary Fixed-Term Contract

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Officer to join our high performing regulatory services team. We are a forward-looking service with arrangements in place to provide services for other councils.  You would also play a key role in the councils   response to supporting businesses and residents in relation to Covid-19.

The service has been shortlisted for several national awards that showcase the excellent and innovative work that we achieve in Peterborough. Our aim is to remain at the forefront of regulatory services delivery, encouraging innovation amongst team members in order to drive forward and develop the service.

This post is based in Peterborough, though you will also work closely with colleagues based in Oakham, Rutland. The diverse demographic and geographic nature of the area covered by the service makes it an ideal ground for the professional development of any officer.

Ideally you will be EHRB registered and have experience of enforcing food safety and health and safety legislation.  You will carry out interventions, investigate complaints and infectious diseases and provide business advice. The service is developing commercial services and has a variety of Primary Authority arrangements in place with national businesses. Experience of dealing with private water supplies would also be an advantage although this is not essential.

We will also consider applicants that are embarking on the new Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner pathway to achieve their Chartered Status.

The role requires excellent communication and team working skills and a flexible solution focussed approach.

For an informal discussion please contact Liz Adamson (Principal Environmental Health Officer) on 01733 453542.
