Your role:


As a Public Protection Officer you will be part of a team providing a critical service to support our commitment to tackling Covid-19 within the borough. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the environmental health issues relating to infectious diseases with some element of responsibility for environmental protection, food safety, health and safety and public health. You will be responsible for delivering infectious diseases inspections, responding to service requests, leading on a range of initiatives, and maintaining primary authority relationships. As the opening hours of businesses are varied you may be required to work weekend and/or evening work subject to service needs.

About you:

You will have a degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and have a detailed understanding of coronavirus legislation and guidance. You will be a confident and a highly motivated team player with a good eye for detail and a sound knowledge of infectious diseases legislation and associated guidance. You will have initiative and sound judgment and be used to working across a broad technical background and in a range of environmental health functions. You will have excellent people management skills allied with the proven ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence.

The Environmental Health Service delivers a wide range of environmental health functions, including infections diseases environmental protection, planning and licensing, public health and food safety. We aim to ensure that local businesses comply with regulatory requirements by inspection and support. The team ensures that workplaces and practices are safe and healthy. The team offer support and general business advice to small management enterprises.
