Environmental Health Officer (12 Months Fixed Term)

We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Health Officer to cover a 12-month fixed period.  Responsible to the Principal Health & Housing Officer, the post holder will be required to undertake a wide range of Environmental Health duties.

Positioned within the Food & Public Protection Team, you will carry out proactive and reactive food hygiene inspections and interventions, investigate food complaints and give advice on all food related issues.  You will be required to investigate cases of infectious diseases and food borne disease. Part of the duties of this post will include the enforcement of COVID-19 related legislation and assist the local COVID-19 Track and Trace programme.  The Food & Public Protection Team are also responsible for nuisance investigations from food businesses.

The post will also require you to investigate health & safety complaints and give advice on health and safety related matters.  You will be required to investigate accident notifications, undertake the registration of cosmetic piercers and tattooists and enforce smoke free legislation.

The role will also require you to inspect and enforce premises licensed under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.

The essential qualifications are BSc in Environmental Health, or similar approved qualification.

The post will be 37 hours per week and may include evening and weekend work. 

The post holder will therefore be expected to work flexibly depending on the needs of the job.
