An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Environmental Health department of our Surrey-based local authority client which is currently recruiting for officers to join their Food Safety team.

In response to the COVID crisis, this service currently plays a critical role in protecting the welfare of the borough’s residents and visitors by enforcing food hygiene and health and safety standards in commercial premises in accordance to government guidelines.

This role will involve giving businesses advice on COVID-19 safety measures as well as undertaking food hygiene standards inspections in accordance with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) code of practice.

You will be required to respond to freedom of information enquiries and complaints relating to food and hygiene standards in commercial premises.

In the event of any identified non-compliance, you will be required to instigate all necessary legal action in accordance with the authority’s policies and be responsible for the preparation of evidence at court and tribunals therefore in order to be considered it is absolutely essential that you are an EHRB registered. You must be able to prove your food competency with over 20 hours of CPD and you must have completed a Food Hygiene Inspection for a Local Authority in the last 6 months.

This role will require a degree of flexibility to work outside of normal office hours (such as weekends) should the need arise to investigate any major accidents or events that may occur at premises where access is not available during normal working hours.

This is a full-time position but our client is happy to hear about part-time options.

If you have the right experience for this role and feel your skills and experience match the requirements, or if you would like more information, please contact us on 020 8125 4321 or email info@buckinghamfutures.com
