(Senior) Private Sector Housing Officer

Part time, 18.5 hours per week

£29,604 - £32,509 Senior £32,928-£36,188 pro rata

Beech Hurst, Andover

We are looking for a Private Sector Housing Officer to work within our small established team within Housing and Environmental Health with a focus on improving housing conditions and overseeing adaptations to ensure our residents are living in safe, warm and suitable housing.  You will carry out a range of duties including processing Disabled Facilities Grants, responding to complaints of disrepair in rented homes, licensing of caravan sites and enforcing standards in houses in multiple occupation.

You’ll need to be enthusiastic, customer-focused and technically knowledgeable; with first rate problem-solving and communication skills.  Ideally you will be experienced in private sector housing work but knowledge and skills in building, construction or surveying may also be relevant.

This is a part time post and there is a degree of flexibility about the working pattern.

Whilst this post is based in Andover, due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, you will be required to work some of your time from home on a temporary basis, with travel to appointments as required.

Test Valley spans two market towns, multiple chocolate box villages and miles of stunning countryside. As we’re located just off the A303, it’s an easy trip to surrounding towns and cities, and you can also get to London in just over an hour. We’re proud of our performance as a Council and, with a new Corporate Plan focused on “Growing our Potential”, there has never been a better time to join us and contribute to our success.

We have a positive, inclusive working culture and other employee benefits include a generous holiday allowance, free car parking, an on-site staff restaurant, discounted leisure facilities, flexi-time and a defined benefits pension scheme.

For an informal discussion please contact Deborah Vincent, Principal EHO (Private Sector Housing) on 01264 368211 or Phil Turner, Head of Housing and Environmental Health on 01264 368544.
