EHO (Food & Safety team)
Full time, 2-year fixed term contract
Salary: £36,456- £41,555
We are looking for an EHRB registered officer who has experience of food and health and safety enforcement work to help us support businesses, ensure compliance with food/ health and safety legislation. The successful officer will also have increased responsibilities to ensure Covid compliance of our businesses and assist investigation of Covid-19 outbreaks. We work with a wide range of businesses including Michelin star restaurants, approved manufacturers and rural artisan producers. We have taken advantage of paperless technologies and carry out our inspections using mobile technology and have our own twitter account aimed at food businesses. We have a small number of primary authority partnerships and are eager to develop the portfolio.
South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Districts Councils are a shared Local Authority partnership who are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated team player with good interpersonal skills. We offer flexible working, annualised hours and payment of professional fees as well as 2 paid days to volunteer within the districts per year. You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

We are offering an Environmental Health graduate the chance to start their career and gain valuable professional experience. Over time we expect you to develop your own caseload according to your competency While you are with us you will successfully complete your Chartered Environmental Health Practitioners Programme (CEHP) and the Competency Development Portfolio for Food. You will work within the Environmental Protection team as well as Food and Safety team within Environmental Services. You will have finished or about to complete your Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) accredited Environmental Health degree and ideally you will have completed the knowledge block of your CEHP. We are offering a dedicated mentor to support you and fully funded enrolment on the April 2021 Chartered Environmental Health programme.
