Job Details
Our local authority client, based in the South West are looking to appoint an experienced Principal Environmental Health Officer to lead and manage our Environmental Protection team. You will be responsible for providing an effective and comprehensive, customer-focused service in accordance with legislation and agreed service standards acting as lead officer for Environmental Protection (environmental/animal activities permits, air quality, community protection, noise and other statutory nuisance, national assistance funerals, bathing water quality, contaminated land, pest control, found dogs, and planning/licensing consultations) matters.
In order to be considered you must possess an in-depth understanding of the effective application of related legislation and enforcement processes and be qualified, as a minimum, to the equivalent of Environmental Health Officer level - ideally you will be a member of the CIEH. Recent experience of delivering a similar service; managing and motivating a team; and reviewing, developing, implementing and monitoring environmental health policy and strategy are also essential.
This contract is due to start in October and will initially run until the beginning of January pending perm recruitment.
