Senior Environmental Health Officer

(Commercial Food and Health and Safety) – Ref: SEHO (F)

Salary up to £39,807 p.a.  - 37 hours per week

Broxbourne Borough Council is looking for an Environmental Health Officer to deliver food safety and health and safety enforcement within the Environmental Health Service.  The successful candidate will be suitably qualified, committed to providing high quality services and playing an important role within the Environmental Health Team. We need an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team player who is committed to delivering a key service. You will manage your own caseload which will include programmed statutory inspections for food premises and delivery of the food hygiene rating system.  All inspections will be completed in line with the risk ratings and required through the Food Standards Agency Code of Practice; be responsible for enforcing food safety, investigating outbreaks of infectious disease, complaints about food businesses, accident investigations, health and safety complaints, special treatment licence applications, and provide advice to businesses and consumers.

To apply for the role you will be an Environmental Health Officer and hold a Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board or equivalent. You must also hold a full driving license. You must be able to demonstrate that you meet the relevant competencies detailed in the Food Law Code of Practice in respect of inspection of food establishments, use of enforcement sanctions, sampling, import and export controls, reactive investigations and up to date Continual Professional Development (CPD). The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post. A valid driving license and access to own transport is essential.
