Senior Public Health Intelligence Specialist
Our client in the North of England is seeking to appoint a temporary Senior Public Health Intelligence Specialist, principally to support their health protection work in response to COVID-19 but with some input into health improvement programmes and winter health preparedness and response.
You will be highly experienced in using a wide range of data sources, both internal and external to your work environment, collating that data and transforming it into intelligence.
The post holder will provide important inputs into outbreak surveillance and monitoring, including written reports and presentation to senior leadership and external partners, informing timely responses to contain threats to health.
This will include accessing restricted and confidential data and you will be familiar with data protection and information governance requirements.
You will have highly developed analytical skills and significant experience in public health intelligence / disease surveillance with an ability to make sense of potentially conflicting or incomplete information.
You will be adaptable and flexible, able to meet new challenges arising from COVID-19, including a willingness to provide limited support outside normal working hours and able to complete tasks within tight timescales.
Main duties: 1. Provide COVID-19 intelligence to Health and Adult Services leadership teams
a. Use of multiple data sources, both internal and external
b. Collating of data and transforming it to intelligence
c. Report writing and presentation to senior leadership and external partners
d. Key inputs into outbreak surveillance and monitoring e. Working with confidential data in line with Data Protection legislation and Information Governance guidelines
2. Support for Public Health team in population health improvement 3. We are looking for:
a. Well-developed analytical skills
b. Significant experience in public health intelligence and disease surveillance
c. Ability to present complex information to a range of audiences, both written and verbal
d. Adaptability and flexibility to meet new and emerging challenges arising from COVID-19
e. Ability to make sense of sometimes conflicting and incomplete information f. Able to complete tasks within tight timescales g. Flexibility with working hours, potentially including some weekends
