One of our clients in Cambridgeshire is seeking a fully qualified EHO to undertake remote interventions, carry out Food hygiene inspections and work with COVID-19 Prevention, acting as a Response Officer. The post will be at least 3 months, possibly longer.

 

The role itself entails carrying out Food Hygience inspections across all risk categories and providing advice and information to commercial businesses and those with responsibility for private sector housing relating to COVID-19 and it's prevention thus ensuring the health & safety of individuals as well as the promotion of a vibrant economy within the area.  You would be involved with the:

 

  • Carrying out of remote interventions
  • Undertaking of Food Safety inspections
  • Provision of advice, information and support to businesses, landlords and property managers relating to relevant legislation, guidance and local outbreak controls.
  • Investigation of complaints including undertaking monitoring and site visits/inspections as necessary.
  • Assisting with the Council’s prevention based communications and targeted campaigning.

 

Given the nature of the work the ideal candidate will be qualified in Environmental Health with experience of carrying out local authority intervention work including dealing with outbreaks and infection control.  Any experience of carrying outH&S audits would also be very useful.

 

Alongside technical knowledge the post holder must have experience of carrying out investigative and / or enforcement work.  Effective communication skills are essential for this role including the ability to negotiate in a broad range of often complex and difficult scenarios whilst organising / prioritising work to meet deadlines. Details of all visits and action taken will need to be accurately recorded in accordance with service policy and procedures by manual or electronic means for which the post holder will need to be comfortable with the use of ICT in general.

 

You must have 20 hours of CPD training.
