(full time post – 37 hours per week)

£24,799 to £26,317 pa plus essential car allowance of £1,239 per annum

Following a recent service review an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with an interest in environmental quality to assist the Environmental Management Team. The successful applicant will provide technical assistance in the following areas; private water supplies, harbour and recreational water monitoring, animal welfare and dog control, land drainage investigations, nuisances and local environmental quality including air quality, litter and fly tipping.

The role will involve supporting the senior officers in investigating complaints but also being responsible for an individual case load and the correspondence related to that caseload.  This will involve sampling and monitoring various environmental parameters, answering queries and providing advice, information and guidance to the public and working and liaising with other agencies and local authorities. The role will place particular emphasis on sampling, risk assessing and improving private water supplies throughout the district and likewise animal welfare and dog control.

We are looking for a team player, with excellent interpersonal, who is self-motivated and committed to continued self-improvement in a science driven work area.  They should be able to demonstrate problem solving skills together with good computer, written and oral communication skills.  A driving licence and access to a car are essential requirements.
