Role Purpose

Tower Hamlets is a fascinating borough, a multi-cultural community steeped in history. The contrasts and challenges in Environmental Health are vast.
 
The Health and Housing Team works with landlords and tenants to provide safe and secure housing within the Borough. Over one third of the total Housing stock is within the private rented sector.

The Team are responsible for carrying out Housing Standards inspections, HMO licensing, Selective Licensing inspections and investigating public health service requests. 

We are able to offer a range of career opportunities for individuals that are able demonstrate flair and determination.

The Team is based within the Environmental Health and Trading Standards and is able to draw on resources and expertise across the Service.

We are able to offer a 35 hour week with flexible working, structured training opportunities (CPD), excellent salaries an additional car user allowance/travel allowance, advisory and enforcement work and a minimum of 6 weeks paid leave a year.

Key Responsibilities

You will be working in a Team dealing with diverse housing issues seeking intervention strategies to ensure compliance with Environmental Health legislation and improving the private rented sector.

You will be expected to be self-motivated and appreciate the Council's wider agenda on issues that impact the local environment.

Requirements

Those applicants that are working towards their Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Registration will be encouraged to do so.

Those applicants that hold their registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health will start at the higher grade.
