Role Purpose
Tower Hamlets is a fascinating borough, a multi-cultural community steeped in history. The contrasts and challenges in Environmental Health range from the past historical land uses to the current construction and developments being undertaken in the Borough. The team manages and delivers on award winning projects and has a robust Air Quality monitoring and management profile.

The Pollution Team is based within the Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service and is able to draw on resources and expertise across the Service.
The post holder will assist us in developing our strategies in dealing with air quality, project management, regulatory and enforcement activities.
We are able to offer a 35 hour week, flexible working, structured training opportunities (CPD), excellent salaries an additional car user/travel allowance, advisory and enforcement work and a minimum of 6 weeks paid leave a year
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the key pollutants within an inner city environment and will be able to come up and develop strategies to reduce the effects of those pollutants using the full range of Environmental Health powers and legislation.
They must critically be able to review planning applications to ensure that environmental impacts are mitigated.
They will be working in a multi-skilled team dealing with air quality projects, contaminated land, permitted processes, investigating complaints, dealing with planning applications.
Requirements
The successful applicant will have a background in environmental analysis, majoring on air quality and a good understanding of regional strategies.
