Our client in East London is looking for an Air Quality Officer to join its team.
 
Main purpose
 

To Act as a Specialist Scientific Advisor to the Environmental Health (Environmental Protection) Division and to other Council Departments on matters related to air quality management and air pollution control.
 
Duties:
 
- To be an expert and carry out air pollution investigation, monitoring control and enforcement. Check and maintain the Council’s air pollution monitoring stations and equipment, carry out monitoring, collect data, interpret trends, using the Section’s Geographical Information System and report on conclusions, particularly relating to transport, construction and any community problems.
 
- Carry out regular review and assessment of local air quality, to comply with the UK Air Quality Strategy, The Mayor for London’s Air Quality Strategy and Council Strategy, to agreed timetables.
 
- Carry out the assessment and review of Planning Applications allocated to the Team with respect to air quality issues.
 
- Use environmental consultants to assist with developing and delivering the aims and objectives of the Council’s Air Quality Strategy. Provide technical support and advice to consultants for Air Quality issues.
 
Knowledge & Experience
 
Advanced specialist knowledge of air quality and pollution control.
Detailed knowledge of environmental impact controls and up to date knowledge of current work practices and recent developments within Environmental Health
Experience of implementing Air Quality Strategies and investigation of pollution cases.
At least 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience.
Recognised Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent
Graduate or corporate member of CIEH or similar professional association
