Job opportunity within Birmingham City Council's Environmental Protection team (Environmental Health). You will be joining a busy, friendly, and professional team with prospects to gain experience in a wide range of subject areas as well as operate in a variety of commercial and domestic settings.
We are seeking skilled and dedicated Environmental Protection Officers to join our Environmental Health team. Successful candidates will be responsible for assessing the environmental merits of a wide range of planning applications as well as enforcing a wide range of legislation and providing advice in line with Council policy and Government requirements. Duties will primarily involve assessing the environmental merits of planning applications. Other duties may cover the full range of environmental protection subject areas including environmental permitting, responding to applications under the Licensing Act 2003 and nuisance/clean air related investigations, subject to the expertise of the successful candidates. Duties may also involve strategic work around local air quality management and the contaminated land regime.
Applicants will have a degree/diploma in a relevant science subject. Additional, technical qualifications are an advantage. Driving license and own vehicle essential.
