Trainee Environmental Health Practitioner (Fixed Term – 2 Years)

Duties:
Dartford Borough Council is looking to train you to be the next generation of Environmental Health Practitioner. As well as training, you will be taking on responsibilities for a range of both regular and project support work. You must hold a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) accredited qualification in Environmental Health at a minimum level of 6 EG: a BSc/MSc degree and be seeking to complete the Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner Programme. It is important that you possess excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence. You will be mentored and supervised by experienced and high performing Environmental Health Officers, and you will fully contribute to the team while benefitting from their experience and expertise.
Dartford Borough Council Environmental Health Department operates in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council. Trainee Practitioners will have the opportunity to experience working across these two diverse areas, which include both rural and urban communities and a variety of local industries, tourism and leisure facilities such as Bluewater Shopping Centre and Brands Hatch motor racing circuit. Located to the South East of London, the area is seeing continued investment and significant development offering interesting challenges in the area of environmental health.
Key responsibilities
• To provide support to the Environmental Health team in a developing trainee role, including assisting in the delivery of the service in both the Commercial and Environmental Protection teams for Dartford Borough Council and Sevenoaks District Council. You will, at times, be required to work outside normal office hours.
• To train to achieve the CIEH Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner accreditation.
