37 hpw. You will participate in a rotational shift pattern covering 6.30am - 10pm weekdays and 6.30am - 2.30pm at weekends.

Based at the Port Health Offices, Port of Felixstowe.

Job reference: ESC00350.

East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority is at the frontline of food safety, animal and public health control not only for the UK but also for the European Union. To become part of our team you will be enthusiastic, keen to learn and prepared to assist our dedicated team of staff in the undertaking of our statutory functions.

The role can offer you a mix of both office based functions such as the checking and processing of import documentation as well as out of office functions such as examination and sampling of foodstuffs including allergens, where a degree of lifting will be involved, vessel inspections and a range of port health duties. You will have the opportunity to work under your own initiative but also with others as a team.

Interested? Ideally you must be qualified as an EHRB registered EHP or equivalent and have knowledge of current UK POAO and OFFC regulations. IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications are desirable.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose-built, brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

* plus 14% shift allowance and enhancement for weekend working.
