Hours: 37 per week

Location: Bath and North East Somerset

Based in the World Heritage City of Bath, Housing Services deals with a rapidly expanding private rented sector which has an increasingly important role to play in providing homes for residents.

We aim for high standards of customer service and are seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Housing Standards and Improvement Team.

We are looking for a qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHO) or unqualified Assistant Environmental Health Officers to improve housing conditions and the management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in Bath and North East Somerset. The permanent role will be both reactive and proactive enforcement work in the rented sector including residential property inspections of licensable HMOs. The fixed term contract roles will be mainly the pro- active inspection of licensable HMOs.

Applicants will need to be qualified or unqualified Environmental Health Officers and show that they meet the requirements of the person specification which include:

  • A degree in Environmental Health or equivalent
  • An understanding of housing law, particularly assessment and enforcement of the Housing Act 2004 in relation to the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and Houses in Multiple Occupation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High levels of commitment, flexibility and enthusiasm
