Environmental Health Officer – Environmental Protection

Salary: £33,920 - £41,735 per annum

Permanent Contract

37 Hours per Week

The job will give the successful candidate an opportunity to carry out a wide variety of Environmental Protection Team work, from investigating statutory nuisance / public health complaints, to Pollution Control intervention and providing expert advice to planning and licensing consultations. Part of this role requires the candidate to complete Environmental Health Housing standard inspections and Environmental Enforcement investigations. 

This role is split between Thurrock Council and Brentwood Borough Council and the successful candidate will work between the Civic Offices in New Road, Grays and Brentwood Councils Warley Offices.

You should be a good communicator with the ability to effectively organise workloads on your own and work as part of a team. You will need comprehensive computer skills to analyse and feedback on Environmental Protection technical / scientific data.

You must have a proven record to demonstrate your understanding and implementation of Statutory Nuisance, Environmental Protection enforcement, EH Housing Standards and Environmental Enforcement.

At times the post holder will be expected to investigate allegations of nuisance outside of normal working hours, where service demand requires.

Candidates for this post must have successfully completed the Environmental Health Degree and have EHORB registration. Consideration for this post will be given to newly qualified officers who are about to complete their ELP / PPP for Chartered Member Status.
