Environmental Health Officer

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are looking to appoint an Environmental Health Officer to work as part of the council’s Environmental Health Team. The Role

Working under the direction of the Team Leader, you will act as the authorised and responsible officer and act under the various environmental health statutes and regulations enforced and administered by the Environmental Health and licensing service.

You will be responsible for carrying out food, health and safety, pollution, public health and other environmental health-based inspections and case work as allocated (including out of hours work when necessary), as required for the Environmental Health and licensing service functions.

About You

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your personal skillset whilst undertaking appropriate investigations and enforcement action. You’ll need to be willing to work across a broad area of activity and support the wider and very busy Environmental Health Team.

It is essential you have a BSc/MSc Degree in Environmental Health approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health; or CIEH/IEHO Diploma in Environmental Health with a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (where appropriate). Along with excellent communication skills, you must have an excellent eye for detail and be able to develop excellent relationships with partner agencies. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
