Grade 8 – Starting at £33,174 per annum and rising to £36,558 

(Those who have yet to gain the requested qualifications will be appointed at Grade 7 - £29,174 per annum until the relevant qualifications have been achieved)

Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Health Officer to join Chelmsford City Council’s Public Health and Protection Services. 

We are looking for a suitably qualified and skilled officer who is confident and competent in the area of food and health and safety enforcement. We also consider applications from recent graduates who are working towards EHRB registration or equivalent (although our expectation is that chapter 4 competencies in food will be achieved within 4 months of appointment) and welcome applicants returning from a career break.

You will be working within a busy team undertaking a diverse range of food and health and safety regulatory work fully supported by the Business Compliance Lead Officer and as is a great opportunity to develop and expand skills across the disciplines.

The successful candidate will be motivated and have the necessary skills to communicate requirements and influence standards and behaviour. They will have a commitment to team working and be able to manage and prioritise a diverse workload. It goes without saying that Chelmsford City Council aims to provide the highest standards of customer service.

A full driving licence is required for this post and the nature of the work means that you will need to undertake some duties outside normal office hours.
