AND

Housing Enforcement Officer(s), Grade 8 to 9; £31,548 - £34,794

The career grade is dependent on experience/qualification.

Croydon is a dynamic and popular borough, with significant develop plans and good transport links, which is an area of high housing demand. We have a high percentage of privately rented properties, many of which are not adequately maintained.

We are determined to improve the private rented sector in Croydon, to reduce anti-social behaviour and improve housing conditions, and a borough-wide selective licensing scheme started on 1 October 2015. As we have over 40,000 privately rented properties we need a team of enthusiastic and self-motivated officers to help deliver our highly ambitious aims. We now have vacancies for environmental health and enforcement officers.

For the EHO role - Are you a fully qualified and EHORB registered environmental health officer with housing and HHSRS experience, or are you working towards full qualification and registration? For either role - Or do you have skills and experience in a housing related field, with or without alternative qualifications? Are you self-motivated and enthusiastic with a keen desire to improve housing conditions for the people of Croydon? If so, you’re just who we need to join our team of dedicated professional officers.

We are looking for people who know about housing disrepair and remedial works through training or experience in a relevant field, and who have an understanding of the housing health and safety rating system and other relevant legislation used in housing enforcement, although practical experience of enforcement is not necessary as full training will be given. Support will be given if you are new into the area of work and demonstrate an enthusiasm to learn.

You will be able to manage your own case load, be enforcement minded and demonstrate excellent customer care skills as you will be dealing with members of the public on a daily basis. As well as practical field work, the role includes data inputting and preparation of letters and notices, and IT skills will be an advantage.
