Big changes. No excuses. That’s what we’re delivering at Wirral Council. We’ve got ambitious targets to meet by 2020. To achieve everything we have promised to our residents, we need people who are driven and ready to deliver the very best for our communities.

Wirral is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making Wirral a better place.

It is a fantastic place to live, work and visit.

We are an employer who supports, who is flexible but who demands the very best.

Wirral's Environmental Health Service has been redesigned and modernised to deliver a highly efficient service that is customer focused and prides itself on continual improvement. Whilst working within a generic team, officers develop the specialisms required to meet the needs of the community.

We are looking to fill a permanent full time fully qualified Environmental Health Officer's post, however we would also welcome applications from newly qualified individuals and those who are in the final stages of achieving their qualification. You should be enthusiastic about change, customer focused and willing to adapt to new challenges as the service evolves to meet changing customer and service demands.

Ideally you will have experience of undertaking either Food Safety enforcement duties (EHRB Registered) and/or have experience in Environmental Protection investigations and enforcement. Experience in or a willingness to participate in other fields of Environmental Health would be advantageous.

The ability to work as part of a team to support colleagues in all areas of Environmental Health is important.

There will be training opportunities to enable the successful candidates to work in other fields of Environmental Health as future service demands dictate.

The candidates must be willing to work outside of normal office hours for which an additional payment will be made. The successful candidate may apply to be considered for essential car user allowance.

No holding back. No excuses. Just change Wirral.

Please note that in accordance with the Council’s policy, employees who are in a formal redeployment situation will be considered in the first instance for all vacancies.

Applications will be accepted until midnight on the closing date.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified date should we receive sufficient applications.

Applications can only be accepted through the Jobs page following registration.  Forms received via the post will not be processed.

All applicants invited to interview must evidence their right to work in the UK.  Details of required documents can be found by clicking the link at the bottom of the Jobs page.

The job description and other supporting documents will not be accessible once the vacancy closing date has passed so if a copy is required you should download it now.
