PRINCIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
Salary: £38,813 - £43,662 per annum (City Pay Band 7)
Hours: 37 per week
Closing Date: 12 noon, 30th September 2019

We have an opportunity for a Principal Environmental Health Officer (PEHO) to undertake a range of duties from basic investigations / inspections to the most complex cases in relation to the assigned work within the Commercial and Licensing team.

As a PEHO you will be responsible for managing the staff assigned to you, we will look to you to lead on work allocation, performance management, performance reviews and recruitment. The ability to lead on projects and deliver successful outcomes is essential to support the implementation of the agreed work programme for the team.
You will undertake inspections of commercial premises for food hygiene, health and safety and licensing as well as investigating complaints and compliance with licensing conditions, food and health and safety complaints infectious diseases, accidents and sampling. Dealing with statutory nuisance from commercial premises will also form a key part of the role.
You will join us with a Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health and Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board and have an advanced qualification in a specialist area. You will have recent experience to demonstrate your ability to carry out official food controls and enforce food law. As an experienced Environmental Health professional, you will have the ability to communicate well at all levels and will be able to present facts and negotiate in a balanced manner. You must also be confident in the preparation and construction of reports, applying your knowledge to interpret legislation and apply standards and legal requirements to support decisions.
