The new service ensures the safety of our residents and the environment in which they live, and includes the regulation of clean air, food safety and standards, animal welfare, statutory nuisances, fair trading, product safety, tackling rogue traders and age restricted sales, amongst many others.

Your new role

The Principal Regulatory Services Officer is the senior investigator, regulator and decision maker of the Regulatory Services team and is responsible for the delivery of regulatory actions across a number of service functions within the areas of Environmental Health and Trading Standards, which now form part of the new Regulatory Services team.

Should the need arise, you will be required to participate in a rota system in which 1 week in 5 you will work Mon - Sun 6pm to 2am to provide the Night Noise Service (17% shift allowance will be added to the salary if the role is, at any time, included in the rota).

Whilst the scope of the services is very broad full training will be provided to successful candidates if they do not have the requisite experience in any particular area.

What you'll need to succeed

We're looking for an experienced regulatory officer who has exceptional interpersonal skills to be able to contribute positively to complex team discussions relating to legal processes, interpretation and appropriate consistent enforcement.

You will need to hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification in one of the key areas such as food safety, trading standards or acoustics and have a proven track record of enforcement using PACE, CPIA and RIPA, demonstrating compliance with the various enforcement codes and knowledge and experience of how to gather admissible evidence.

If you meet the above criteria and are looking for a new challenge please get in touch.

What you'll get in return

As well as highly competitive pay you'll receive all the benefits of working within a local authority organisation, which ranges from flexible working hours and a fantastic pension to 25 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays) and a fully-fledged rewards portal giving you access to a wide range of discounts at local businesses and high street stores.
