Environmental Health Officer
We have an opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to specialise in the area of food hygiene; inspecting food premises and scoring them in accordance with the Food Standards Agency Food Hygiene Rating System. You’ll investigate complaints about food hygiene and practice and outbreaks of infectious disease. You’ll also take part in sampling programmes and will be supported as a member of a wider team also covering health and safety The role is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary of £31,371 - £37,849 per annum.

What we’re looking for in our ideal Environmental Health Officer:
- Level 6 Degree in Environmental Health and Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board
- Previous relevant experience including using a range of computer applications and ICT including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, internet and e-mail
- Practical experience of dealing with members of the public and businesses, with a level of competence required to achieve compliance with legislation
- Confident and effective communicator in dealing with the public and businesses
- An understanding of the relevant legislation, guidance, procedures and practices and the technical processes necessary for the application of such legislation
- Logical, methodical, accurate and flexible approach to work
- Ability to manage a challenging work load, working effectively on your own, using your own initiative as well as part of a team
- Some experience in health and safety would be beneficial
The post is career graded depending on knowledge, competency and experience. Some knowledge of regulatory services and food hygiene legislation is essential.
