Service Manager Environmental Health & Trading Standards​

Aberdeenshire Council has created an exciting new opportunity for an experienced, qualified and dynamic individual to take on a new job role as the Service Manager for Environmental Health and Trading Standards. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Service Manager to merge, lead and develop the services while ensuring excellent service delivery.

As the Service Manager you will ensure services are delivered to the highest standard, represent the service on relevant regional and national boards and represent the Head of Service as required.

About the Role

Aberdeenshire is a vibrant location with the largest white fish port in Europe, extensive agriculture output, renowned food and drink industries and thriving businesses in energy, tourism and hospitality. The Service Manager will be supported by and lead a team of 145 Environmental Health, Contaminated Land, Animal Welfare and Trading Standards Professionals. This enables the Service Manager to develop and deliver a strategic approach to service delivery. You will be responsible for the budget (£3.4 million) and the practices of both services and to ensure delivery of performance indicators and resource efficiencies.

About you

With a relevant qualification in Environmental Health or Trading Standards, you will have substantial experience in an Environmental Health or Trading Standards service responsible for enforcing a wide range of legislation. Extensive background in managing and motivating teams is essential alongside experience of working with Senior Officers and Elected Members.

Relocation

Aberdeenshire Council recognises that in order to recruit and retain high quality employees across the organisation, it is necessary to have a competitive relocation and resettlement scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to compensate employees for reasonable expenses directly incurred as a result of a change in their primary residence.  Under the terms of this procedure relocation expenses of up to £8,000 (including VAT) will be reimbursed.
