Buckingham Futures are currently recruiting for a Technical Director, on behalf of our Private Sector client based in London, a leading safety consultancy specialising in food hygiene, health & safety and environmental management solutions for the catering and hospitality sectors. 

 

Reporting into the Operations Director, this is a senior role within the company and you will be required to direct and manage the technical service provision within the organisation with particular focus upon the AFP and advice line services and technical advisory positioning.

 

This is home based role requiring 2 days per week in the offices (or when required) Please see a brief overview of some of the roles duties :

 

·        To manage and support a team of technical and Principal Consultants, providing advice and guidance, mentoring and development on an ongoing basis.

·        To produce Food technical policy and position documentation as and when required.

·        To update and maintain technical and template documentation on FACT.

·        To produce food safety management systems and HACCP documentation on behalf of CPU operations/food manufacturing clients.

·        To actively manage the allegation of food poisoning (AFP) service, ensuring that the AFP Administrator is provided with advice, support and management. To review all potential outbreak cases and advise accordingly on steps to be taken.

·        To manage and actively engage in the Advice Line service, review advice provided to clients and ensure that advice is provided within KPI targets.

·        To manage key strategic relationships including UK Hospitality.

·        Maintaining the technical library.

·        To carry out food hygiene and health & safety inspections, risk assessment visits and records audits at clients’ premises.

·        To produce reports for the clients based on these audits and inspections.

·        To deliver technical updates to the consultancy team at team meetings as required and to maintain the CPD program for consultants.

 

Core Skills Required

 

·        Relevant technical food safety and health & safety knowledge and experience (usually minimum BSc Environmental Health or equivalent industry experience plus professional qualifications).

·        Technical understanding of HACCP and food safety management systems

·        Experience of working across hospitality and food production sectors with a focus on food manufacture (various categories) and CPU operations.

·        Knowledge of third party certification audits schemes including SALSA and BRC.

·        Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage own time effectively.

·        Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build long lasting relationships.

·        Ability to provide a constructive approach with clients and forge a professional and valued relationship.

·        IT: MS Office, CRM, auditing software.

·        Conscientious and able to apply a consistent standard and approach.
