PORT HEALTH INSPECTOR (EHO)

Full-time (37 hours pw), Salary: £32,029-£34,788 + Standby Allowance + Essential Car Allowance + Uniform + Free Parking

The joint board Authority is funded by Hull City Council, North Lincolnshire Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council and has one of the largest geographical areas set in beautiful East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The expanding and thriving Humber port facilities form the largest ports complex in the UK. Port health has seldom had a higher profile and the work is both challenging and rewarding.

We seek a highly motivated, flexible and career-minded Environmental Health Officer who is willing to pursue new challenges to join our small team.   The ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues, to work well both within a team and on your own initiative are essential, as is a flexible approach to work.

Your diverse range of duties will include ship sanitation inspections, water sampling, food safety, imported food control, infection control, civil contingencies, pollution control, statutory nuisance and more.  The role presents opportunities for travel whilst conducting inspections/audits on passenger and approved factory vessels, unique to the function of a port health authority. We are currently preparing for a new Border Inspection Post at Hull.

To apply for this role, you should have a degree in Environmental Health and hold a Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (or equivalent).  You will also be required to hold a full driving licence.

For an informal discussion please contact Laurence Dettman, Chief Port Health Inspector or Sally Johnson, Principal Port Health Inspector.

Applications will only be accepted on official application forms which are available on request from the Chief Administrative Officer, Hull & Goole Port Health Authority, 257 Hessle Road, Kingston upon Hull, HU3 4BE

Tel: 01482 324776.
