We are currently looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Environmental Health Practitioner with at least two years’ experience in local authority, along with practical experience in the catering industry.

The role has plenty of additional scope to help grow and challenge both you and the business. In addition to our primary functions; auditing, training and complaint management, the Environmental Health Practitioner will help lead and support the technical team.  They will also have a hand in managing several of our business partnerships, including the continued development of our online SureFoot portal and being the key contact for our exciting primary authority partnership.

  • Have experience of working in a catering business, ie; restaurant, bar, café, food manufacturer etc
  • Are amazing with people and can really inspire people
  • Love travelling, often to London but also across the UK and sometimes internationally
  • Enjoy working on your own, making your own decisions and solving problems
  • Can plan a complex diary weeks in advance, only to have it turned on its head by Wednesday
  • Live somewhere near London and have a full driver’s licence
  • Are a spelling and grammar freak       

Environmental Health Practitioner

The Environmental Health Practitioner is a central supporting role, helping provide enforcement expertise and generating the direction and ideas of the business.  Their remit includes Technical, Managing the Primary Authority and IT.

They’re office based in London but will often be in the field. They report to the Managing Director, and work closely with the Operations Director, client management teams and external contractors. 

Salary Range & Benefits

£45K+

Travel expenses in London Underground zones 1-6

Potential for up to 10% salary performance bonus

Key Responsibilities

Technical –

  • Management of the technical team
  • Supporting the technical manager and advisors and facilitating their ongoing learning and development
  • Supporting on supplier management for clients
  • Supporting on supplier audits for clients
  • Diversifying the services on offer in technical team

Managing the Primary Authority & Campden BRI contracts

  • Ensuring client manuals are up to date
  • Ensuring client manual content is approved by the Primary Authority
  • Acting as the liaison between Primary Authority and Campden and the SureFoot team, for desktop requests and queries
  • Annual review of the Primary Authority and Campden BRI agreements

SureFoot Portal & IT

  • Managing the IT developers
  • Managing call centre and response from sites
  • Driving sales of the SureFoot Portal
  • Managing future development of IT systems, ie; supplier management programme
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of different IT systems used by Operations

Sales, Marketing & Presence

  • Approaching new clients
  • Supporting the sales driving team, or helping drive sales within the business
  • Meeting new clients
  • Updating & reviewing Pricing structure, Quotes & SLA’s
  • Researching & writing articles for publishing
  • Attendance at industry events and seminars, ie; CIEH, FSA board on risky foods etc
  • Maintaining an appropriate level of professional competency by reviewing relevant literature and attending courses, workshops, presentations etc.
  • Maintain membership of professional bodies, ie; CIEH and RSPH
  • Any other responsible duties requested by the directors
