My client, is a Local Authority based on the Thames Estuary in Essex, southeast England.

The Council delivers a wide range of vital services at the heart of the community, as well as investing in exciting and ambitious projects that keep the local authority firmly on the map. The Council have a rare opportunity for a Regulatory Services Officer (Trading Standards) to join the Regulatory Services team on temp - perm basis; this team offers flexible working patterns, a friendly and enthusiastic team environment and a varied work portfolio.

 

They are looking for a Regulatory Services Officer to join their Trading Standards team on either a temp-perm basis.

 

Trading Standards in the Councils Regulatory Services team provide a wide range of complex Regulatory Services duties including taking lead responsibility for statutory functions involving projects / inspection programmes / major or complex investigations / supervising other staff members / regional coordination work / SBC corporate projects (business partnerships etc). You will provide specialist advice and support to colleagues across the Council and to members of the public on Trading standards and its control in delivering the Council’s 2050 vision. You will take lead responsibility for undertaking statutory functions involving projects/inspection programmes / major or complex investigations as well as carry out follow up visits and enquiries within relevant premises as required. You will undertake a range of complex ‘out of hours’ inspection and enforcement duties including evenings (running into the early hours of the morning) and weekends in accordance with contracted hours / as required. To respond to and investigate complex Regulatory Services complaints and enquiries from the general public and businesses.

 

What you'll need to succeed

 

To be successful in this role, you will need previous experience of working within a multi-disciplinary trading standards service and have the practical and technical knowledge and skills relating to Trading Standards. It is essential that the applicant be a qualified Trading Standards officer. Please note that this position requires a full enhanced DBS.
