As an Environmental Health Officer on the Isle of Man you will have increased opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in Environmental Health. This is a wide ranging role that offers more exposure to situations leading to training opportunities.

We are looking to appoint an Environmental Health Officer to join our team in the beautiful office in Thie Slieu Whallian, St Johns pictured above, in the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture headquarters.

If you are interested in working towards ensuring the public has access to decent homes, safe food and a safe environment this is the job for you. Working in a small friendly team you will have a fantastic opportunity to develop yourself and contribute to consistent quality service delivery.

What could this role offer you?

This is an amazing opportunity to work in an engaging and varied role.

The Environmental Health Unit carries out a diverse range of statutory functions on a day to day basis. This will ensure you develop into the role quickly giving you the opportunity to be technical lead in core areas of the departments work.

If not already qualified you may also be given the opportunity to train as a Meat Hygiene Inspector to help implement official controls within the Islands meat plant. This will require practical training within the plant along with the completion of the Royal Institute of Public Health (RIPH) Level 4 Diploma for Proficiency in Meat Inspection or equivalent. With a strong emphasis in supporting development in our profession we are committed to ensuring our staff have the development tools required to achieve the best standards of work.

Here you would be joining a strong, friendly team of individuals, who pride themselves on excellent customer service to across the island. This is a full time position but, as an equal opportunities employer, we will consider flexible working arrangements.

Relocation

Interview expenses and a relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role.

The Isle of Man is offering a National Insurance Holiday Scheme which allows newly employed, relocated or returning residents to apply for a refund on their National Insurance contributions for their first year of living or returning to the Isle of Man, with refunds capped at £4,000.
