Salary - Grade 10 Level 1- 4 (£35,500 to £40,710 per annum pro rata)
Package - 22.12 hours per week
City of York Council's Public Protection Team is seeking a Senior EHO / Environmental Protection Officer (Part time) to work in the beautiful historic city of York.
The key roles are to:
* Lead on all planning and development issues
* Assess, interpret and write complex technical reposts, especially in the area of acoustics and noise control and planning.
You will need:
* a Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics & Noise Control
* a degree or similar appropriate qualification
* experience of assessing complex planning applications and technical reports
* significant experience of acoustics, noise and odour monitoring and assessment
* a knowledge of lighting, contaminated land, air quality, PPC and other pollution
* excellent customer, communication and interpersonal skills
* good IT skills
You will be a team player with significant experience in a wide range of environmental protection issues and especially acoustics.
You will need to be able to communicate complex technical issues both verbally and in writing, to Planning Committee, senior council officers and our customers, so you will need excellent written and spoken English.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
This post is 22:12 hours per week (3 days initially, but this may increase dependent upon funding
This is a Temporary Contract until 31/03/2020, but may be extended
